From Strength to Momentum – Ross’ Journey

Being on a treadmill can feel like walking in place, but maybe it’s not about the destination. Maybe it’s about building strength for what’s next. Ross and I were talking about this recently, and we shared a powerful thought on this perspective: Maybe the treadmill isn’t about going nowhere—it’s about building strength for what comes next.

Ross’s journey with uveal melanoma has been a tough one. There were moments when it felt like we were stuck, waiting for answers or progress. But now, as we prepare for his second follow-up with the Darovasertib trial, we see the results of all that preparation.

The results so far have been incredible. Ross’s tumor has shrunk significantly, and for the first time in years, he can see the tip of his nose again. It might seem like a small thing, but it’s monumental for us. These little milestones are proof that the treadmill wasn’t about standing still—it was preparing us for forward motion.

As we look ahead, we’re hopeful and encouraged. Ross’s progress has been a reminder that even when the road ahead looks uncertain, the journey starts with preparation and persistence.

As we head into this next phase, we’re holding onto hope and celebrating the wins along the way. Søren Kierkegaard said, “Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.” Looking back, we see how every step—every scan, every prayer, every moment of waiting—has prepared us for where we are now.

We’re stepping off the treadmill and onto the trail, ready for what’s ahead. The road isn’t always clear, but we’re moving forward, one step at a time.

What about you? Are you on your own treadmill, waiting for the right moment to take that first step? It’s okay if you are. Strength comes intermittently. And when you’re ready to move forward, you’ll know it.

For now, we’re celebrating the little victories and anticipating good results at Ross’s next check-in appointment. The journey isn’t over, but we’re no longer standing still. One step at a time, we’re moving forward—together.

Are you ready to step off the treadmill and onto your own path? Let us know in the comments how you’re preparing for your next journey—we’d love to hear your story.
