Cheesy Garlic Chicken: A Crockpot Win

We’ve been experimenting with a few new recipes lately, and Cheesy Garlic Chicken was one we had to try. It’s creamy, garlicky, and so easy to make—perfect for those busy days when you want something comforting without the hassle. With Ross back from treatment, it’s even better knowing we can sit down as a family and enjoy meals like this together again.

Cheesy Garlic Chicken Recipe
Total Time: 8 hours to cook and 10 minutes to prep

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs (about 1 lb each)
  • 2 cans cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can cheddar cheese soup
  • 3 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Label a gallon-sized freezer bag with the recipe name, date, and cooking instructions.
  2. Add all ingredients to the bag, seal it, and freeze.
  3. To Cook: Thaw the bag in the fridge overnight.
  4. Dump the contents into your slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours.
  6. Serve over rice, pasta, or baked potatoes for a comforting, crowd-pleasing meal.

I get excited about how good the house smells when something’s been cooking all day, and this dish lived up to the “scent” hype. It’s rich and cheesy, with the garlic bringing just the right amount of flavor.

We served it over egg noodles, but can you see it working just as well with rice or mashed potatoes, maybe some crusty bread on the side? And because Ross is back home, we can tweak and perfect it together—maybe next time we’ll toss in some broccoli or peas for an added veggie boost.

Having him back at the table makes everything feel a little more normal, even on the hard days. And meals like this remind us how good it feels to be together, no matter what’s on the menu. If you try it out, let us know how it turns out—we’d love to hear your twist on it!
